french artist vincent leroy has designed the ‘slow lens’ installation, proposing its placement in front of the louvre, in paris. the reflective lens piece turns slowly in a loop, distorting the museum’s facade.

‘slow lens’ by vincent leroy, is a essentially a curtain of lenses that moves constantly around itself. the materiality and the detailed design of the piece make it look light and fluid, almost volatile, while the movement appears effortless. the lenses break down the appearance of the city, by warping the look of the iconic city landmark. the installation generates a visual effect of repetitive distortion, captivating the visitors’ attention.

everything seems natural, life continues around the installation

the project acts as a filter between reality and people, providing a dream-like experience. the lenses create a blurry scenery that becomes an enigmatic and intriguing game, causing wonder and contemplation. at night, the surrounding lights are diffracted in the lenses, making them appear detached from the real world and from all constraints. musician jérôme echenoz has created a sound piece arround the installation which resembles electronic wave loops. the audio repetition becomes multiple and infinite, adding to the intriguing effect of the art piece.
