
The coronavirus crisis has sent U.S. unemployment surging to 14.7%, a level last seen when the country was in the throes of the Depression and President Franklin D. Roosevelt was assuring Americans that the only thing to fear was fear itself.
A developer has proposed to build a retail/warehouse complex on the west side of Jersey City, a plan that includes a 14-acre waterfront park and walkway along the Hackensack Riverfront.
Also, the Hudson County freeholders are expected to vote on a resolution next week authorizing a county agency to use eminent domain to seize three CarePoint Health hospital properties. Plus, leaders and activists from Jersey City’s black community condemned the police officers who used pepper spray and batons during a chaotic fight on Tuesday, and called for better treatment of African American residents.
