Melansir laman Vox, 30 Januari 2020, penyebaran virus asal Wuhan ini telah dikonfirmasi sampai di barat laut Provinsi Xianjang, tempat sekitar sejuta Muslim berada di kamp interniran.
Kendati, sampai sekarang belum ada bukti bahwa virus yang telah jadi ancaman global tersebut menginfeksi kamp manapun. Tapi, para ahli telah memperingatkan bila terjadi infeksi virus corona, kemungkinan bakal berujung pada kematian ribuan orang.
Dilaporkan, beberapa kamp sudah melebihi kapasitas dengan tngkat kebersihan memprihatinkan. Jika penyebaran virus sampai ke sana, infeksi dari satu ke orang lain diperkirakan akan sangat mudah.
"Kondisi memprihatikan, tingkat kebersihan yang payah, penyebaran flu, dan pembangunan sistem imun tak baik, kondisi-kondisi ini bisa mengarah ke bencana besar," kata Profesor Georgetown University James Millward lewat kicauan di akun Twitter-nya, beberapa waktu lalu.
"Virus corona bisa menambah dimensi krisis baru di Xianjang," ucap Adrian Zenz, salah satu ketua ilmuwan yang melakukan penelitian pada sistem interniran di Tiongkok.
Presiden World Uyghur Congress Dolkun Isa mengatakan, pemerintah Tiongkok harus melakukan apapun demi mencegah penyebaran virus corona sampai di wilayah-wilayah lebih luas, termasuk kamp-kamp interniran di Xianjang.

Beberapa pihak mengaku khawatir bahwa pemerintah akan memilih menyembunyikan fakta bila virus corona memang sampai menginfeksi kamp Muslim Uighur.
"Saya tak bisa bayangkan pemerintah membiarkan kabar (penyebaran virus corona di kamp Muslim Uighur) ini beredar," ucap Tim Grose, para ahli di Rose Hulman Institute of Technology.
Pada 2017, pemerintah dilaporkan mulai membangun sejumlah kamp interniran di Xianjang dan membuat aturan bagaimana tempat tersebut terkonstruk dan berjalan.
Dilaporkan ada hampir 20 orang di sebuah ruangan seluar 16 meter persegi. Setiap ruangannya dsebut punya ember plastik sebagai toilet, di mana setiap prang diberikan dua menit per hari untuk menggunakannya.
Ember tersebut dikosongkan sehari sekali. Kondisi yang sangat memprihatinkan ini diwanti-wanti tak bertambah nelangsa dengan infeksi virus corona.

A former Princeton Middle School security guard has been charged with sex crimes against four students that occurred at the school, according to the Hamilton County prosecutor.
Lamont Baldwin, 54, has been indicted on 12 counts of gross sexual imposition involving four students at the school.
Court documents show that four of the victims were under 13 when the assaults happened starting in 2014. The incidents occurred both in the school and off school grounds, court documents say.
Baldwin worked as a security monitor at the school from 1996 to 2019, and for a short time as a wrestling coach.
After students reported the incidents to school officials, Sharonville police launched an investigation in late 2019.
According to a news release, the allegations were brought to the attention of the administration in October 2019 and Baldwin was immediately placed on administrative leave. The Princeton school board voted on November 18, 2019 to terminate Baldwin's contract with the school.
Baldwin has not yet been arrested, according to a spokesperson for the Hamilton County prosecutor's office. If convicted of the charges, he could face up to 50 years behind bars.
“These cases are disturbing and I will never understand people who sexually abuse children," Prosecutor Joe Deters said in a news release Thursday. "Parents expect that school is a safe place and school employees betraying that trust hurt not just the victim but the entire family, school system and community. We take these cases seriously and want to make sure that dangerous people are not in contact with our children.”
The Princeton School District released a statement on Baldwin Thursday.
Dear District Parents/Guardians,Earlier today, someone who was formerly a Princeton Community Middle School security monitor was criminally charged on counts of gross sexual imposition.
Immediately upon learning about the allegations in October, Princeton administration placed the employee on administrative leave and contacted local law enforcement. At the November 18 board meeting, the Princeton Board of Education terminated the employment of this individual. Additionally, an investigation into the allegations was conducted by the City of Sharonville police.
The well-being and safety of our students are top priorities of Princeton City Schools and under no circumstances do we condone or tolerate inappropriate conduct. To ensure our students are receiving mental health support, the district will continue to offer counseling and therapeutic services. We have been and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement and legal authorities in the investigation.

Saat proses penyelesaian kasus itu berjalan, mendadak SBY turut angkat bicara dan mengusulkan pembentukan pansus hak angket Jiwasraya agar kasus ini diusut sampai tuntas. Pakar politik Universitas Paramadina Hendri Satrio menilai wajar kemunculan SBY di tengah prahara Jiwasraya karena namanya sempat disebut beberapa kali dalam kasus ini.
"Dia terusik karena namanya sempat tersebut beberapa kali. Di era dia jadi presiden, kasus Jiwasraya ini bermula. Wajar SBY bereaksi, sebab ini tentang masalah nama baik dirinya dan nama baik pejabat pada masa pemerintahannya," kata Hendri kepada wartawan, Kamis (30/1/2020).
Menurut Hendro, justru kemunculan SBY ini memberikan sedikit titik terang agar Jiwasraya terbongkar sedikit demi sedikit. Malah, menurutnya, Jokowi seharusnya melirik isu yang dilempar SBY.
"Salah satu hal yang cukup tepat adalah memberikan sedikit celah petunjuk agar konspirasi Jiwasraya terbongkar," katanya.
"Sebaiknya Presiden Jokowi juga bereaksi terhadap respons SBY ini, minimal dengan mengklarifikasi bahwa masalah Jiwasraya akan selesai dan terbuka di era pemerintahannya," lanjut Hendri.
